Cooking With Love - Mary Ann Cadorna - The Halo-Halo Chef
My culinary journey began as a little girl in San Francisco, CA, not out of desire but out of necessity. However, that need was enhanced by the teachings of my apartment neighbors, the stay-at-home wives of SFPD officers, and they gave me my first Betty Crocker Cookbook circa 1950 which I still have today, Crisco stains and all. Later in my tween years, I was obliged to cook for my father as my mother worked nights. His inability to complain about my burnt entrees while he crunched his way through my prepared meal, touched my heart to hone my skills further. After that, I became the family chef and prepared meals for multiple guests. However, I fell in love at 17 with my first boyfriend and High School sweetheart, and that's when cooking with love for my future husband was ignited. After giving birth to two sons, a new love for cooking was inspired, and my culinary cooking with love skills took on a sweeter, more personal meaning as I would bake cookies dedicated to their names and meals and snacks themed in their honor. Throughout the decades, family, friends, and clients have all declared about how good my cooking is. For me, the warm feeling of love and contentment I see on their faces and feel from them made cooking with love a heart mission.
